About Dianah Walter (Dianah)

Dianah loves where she lives and is unapologetically a proud South Australian!

Dianah was born in Port Pirie and grew up at Napperby in the Southern Flinders Ranges. Now calling Moonta Bay home, Dianah believes in acting with compassion and integrity.

For more than 35 years, Dianah has held prominent community development roles in regional South Australia and has been engaged as a member of not-for-profit organisations, boards, and committees, advocating for progress in the regions and South Australia more broadly.

Dianah is regarded for her meaningful, respectful, and compassionate lobbying and activism and is no stranger to public service, community engagement, politics, and advocacy.

From an early age Dianah wanted to help people.   She has done that through community and public service, volunteering and now, on her third endeavour to enter political office, she believes that with the alliance and support of Dr Rod Pearce, she is better placed than ever before, to serve South Australians from the Senate.

About Dr Rod Pearce AM (Rod)

Rod trained in Adelaide and worked at the RAH, QEH and Modbury Hospitals before starting work in General Practice.

He was president of the AMA (SA) 1998-2000, GP Nationally Elected Representative on the Federal AMA and Chair of the AMA Council of General Practice for 3 terms from 2004-2010. He is a fellow of the AMA and received the AMA (SA) President’s award in 2008.

In 2008, he was appointed by the then Health Minister, The Hon. Nicola Roxon MP to the External Reference Group to develop Australia’s National Primary Health Care Strategy for the national health reforms and was instrumental in Beulah Park and Athelstone Clinics becoming the first in South Australia to train young doctors in their postgraduate (Intern) years and prevocational years (PGPPP) in the community.

He continues to be an active supervisor to GP registrars through the regional training program.

On Australia Day 2012, Dr Pearce was admitted to the ORDER OF AUSTRALIA (AM) for service to medicine as a general practitioner, through contributions to national medical organisations, and to education.

Today Rod continues to hold the position of Deputy Chair on the Board of the Immunisation Coalition as well as positions on several other boards.

Rod recognises that it’s now time to put his decades of experience to work in the House of Review, the Senate.

Together:

Diligent and dependable, Dianah and Rod, pledge to hold the government of the day to account.

Both candidates have proven track records in meaningful, respectful, and compassionate lobbying and community engagement in areas critical to everyday South Australians.

Issues such as health, jobs, skills, regional development, equity, and more are priorities for Dianah and Rod.  They hold socially progressive and economically conservative values and are known for their evidence-based, pragmatic approach to problem solving.

At this year’s Federal Election, they aim to leverage their combined decades of experience to ensure South Australia’s interests are strongly represented in Canberra.

The Senate fulfills its role as a check on government by scrutinising bills, delegated legislation, administration, and policy.  Dianah and Rod commit to applying a distinctly South Australian perspective to all matters before the Senate, should they be elected.

From the coast to the desert, metropolitan and peri-urban Adelaide to regional cities and every community in between, your postcode or socioeconomic status will not determine whether your voice is heard.

They won’t come to you with policies, promises and politics, but they will come to you for advice and then use that advice to inform their scrutiny of matters that come before them.   Of course, you can come to them.   By listening to communities, individuals, industry and peak bodies, their mandate is to ensure that the diverse voices of SA are heard  in Canberra.

If you have an issue under federal jurisdiction, Dianah and Rod will have your back. South Australia matters—and so do you.

Oh, and did we mention that they are very good listeners and enjoyable to work with!
